HOW I FOUND MY PURPOSE

As a teen, I was very active. Basketball, football, baseball, you name it, I played it. Whether it was in school or my friends house, I was always participating athletic activities. I remember it like it was yesterday, me and my best friend had a long day of playing football with some other guys. I went home, showered and went to bed. When I woke up, I wasn't in my bed, I was on the couch with paramedics asking me if I was feeling OK. I remember feeling a bit woozy and my back being very sore. To the point I could barely move. So, I asked them, "what's going on?" "What happened to me?" They replied, "you had several seizures last night." I couldn't believe it! Fast forward, I had several MRI's and EKG's to determine what was causing it. Nothing was found. They put me on medication to stop the seizures, but I was stubborn and didn't want to take it. Years went by and the seizures continued to come and eventually they really started taking a toll on my body, eventually causing a lot of shoulder problems for me. Enrolling in massage school, going to the gym and cleaning up my nutrition helped me take back control of my life and my health.

My Why

Honestly, starting a business wasn't apart of my plan. As an employee at massage envy, my clients would always tell me to start my own practice. Sometimes I'd consider it, but I had a job that was paying me every week, so I saw no reason to quit. I was comfortable. Then I started taking more courses and going seminars that enhanced my skills. More skills brought me more clients. This was the kicker, we had a end of the year financial review to see how much money you made for the company. I was STUNNED! I made that company well over $100,000. It was in that moment when I realized my clients were right. 90 days later, I was in my own space.

My why? Growing up in a small town/rural areas, you don't see a lot of success, if any at all. I watched my parents and grandparents work hard every single day for us for years and they hated what they did. I didn't want that for me or my family. I LOVE what I do, but the biggest joy is all the praise I receive from clients. It's confirmation that my purpose is being fulfilled and as a father of 3 daughters, my ''why'' is them. I want to show them that this is possible, regardless of what society tells them. Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life.
